大聯盟官網報導，塞揚獎投手Jake Peavy將轉戰紅襪隊，牽動美聯東區戰局。紅襪、白襪、老虎三隊達成交易協議，只要Peavy體檢過關，就會公布。
Peavy生涯最輝煌的一季是2007年，拿到19勝、防禦率2.54，奪下塞揚獎。本季他為白襪隊先發13場，戰績8勝4敗、防禦率4.28。
原本傳出響尾蛇隊是「Peavy爭奪戰」的贏家，但被紅襪隊攔胡。紅襪隊先發投手Clay Buchholz正在養傷，大概還需要3、4個禮拜才能復出。如此壓力下，促成紅襪隊出手搶人。
紅襪隊還可獲得投手Brayan Villarreal，但得把內野手Jose Iglesias送到老虎隊，白襪隊則從老虎隊那邊，拿到外野手Avisail Garcia、以及3位小聯盟選手。
Iglesias是紅襪隊本季主力內野手，出賽63場，打擊率0.330、1發全壘打。這位古巴好手常在游擊區展現美技，到了老虎隊之後，將是一枚活棋。老虎隊目前的游擊手Jhonny Peralta涉及「邁阿密禁藥案」，一但被禁賽，Iglesias就可進駐游擊區。 (接下一頁)
