多益測驗的Part 6是12題的Text Completion，也就是所謂的克漏字。這12題不外乎是語法題與字彙題，但是它與Part 5的單句填空是有差異的；簡言之，它的語法題偏重在：1.時態觀念、2.句子的連接、3.詞類變化這三大類型。這三個測試類型也正好符合克漏字題型的特質，因為必須要從全篇文章找線索，而不是只從空格所在的單句來判斷。
以「時態」題而言，時態的語法在看兩件事：一是動詞的變化、二是時間詞（time word)。以此為前提，再配合時間線上的三個時點（過去、現在、未來）以及時態的四個種類（簡單式、進行式、完成式、完成進行式），交織出3乘以4的12種變化。以「他彈鋼琴。」這句英文為例：
簡單式：
過去簡單式：He played the piano.
現在簡單式：He plays the piano.（play第三人稱單數加s）
未來簡單式：He will play the piano.
進行式：
過去進行式：He was playing the piano.
現在進行式：He is playing the piano.
未來進行式：He will be playing the piano.
完成式：
過去完成式：He had played the piano.
現在完成式：He has played the piano.
未來完成式：He will have played the piano.
完成進行式：
過去完成進行式：He had been playing the piano.
現在完成進行式：He has been playing the piano.
未來完成進行式：He will have been playing the piano.
以上的時態變化，都是在動詞的部份做變化。至於「時間詞」，則是我們過去所學英文文法之中，藉以判斷時間的詞彙，例如表示「過去」的時間詞有yesterday（昨天）、last week（上星期）、last month（上個月）、last year（去年）、recently（最近）、two days ago（兩天前）、before（以前）、the day before yesterday（前天）等等。各種時態的時間詞，不妨翻一下以前的文法書。
多益測驗最常出現的是「現在進行式」、「現在完成式」、「現在完成進行式」、「過去完成式」，偶爾出現「未來完成式」。
