近期中國經濟數據讓人失望，導致多位經濟學家下調了中國2014年經濟增長預期。Ting Lu將中國2014年經濟增長預期由7.6%降至7.2%，他還將中國第一季度經濟增長預期由8%降至7.3% 。

Ting Lu稱：“有初步的跡象，包括1月2月PMI下滑、大宗商品價格下跌，這暗示疲弱投資需求，CPI通脹下滑意味消費需求疲弱。事后來看，1月2月增長疲弱或源於政府非常嚴厲的治理污染措施，很多小型水泥廠和煉鋼廠關閉，反腐敗活動升溫也打擊了消費，此外，房地行業周期性放緩，人民幣升值的滯后影響、2013年下半年利率上升，控制地方政府債務及打擊影子影響，均起到影響。”(谷雲)
