這隻600年乾屍　親眼見證黑死病

近日，英國康沃爾郡（Cornwall）一名建築工人，於一棟百年歷史的古老建築中，發現一隻老鼠乾屍，由於牠與當代老鼠外型極為不同，工人連忙通報相關單位，經專家研判，這隻躺在古厝樓梯間的木乃伊鼠，已沉睡長達600年，牠存活的年份，往前追溯約於中世紀黑死病時期，這個意外發現，頓時震驚當地！
 
14世紀，中世紀歐洲境內黑死病蔓延，人口銳減，約30%至50%人口因病身亡，後代學者發現，當時疫情與19世紀鼠疫相似，因此判定黑死病禍源為老鼠（所攜帶的病菌），然而，由於事隔多年，無從驗證，因此至今仍無定論。正是因為如此，當專家發現這隻珍貴的木乃伊鼠時，格外謹慎，目前老鼠乾屍被收藏於潘諾崙博物館（Penryn Museum），用來見證人類史上最慘重的瘟疫－黑死病。（王馨慧／綜合報導）
