日美同悼硫磺島戰70週年

日本與美國今天舉行硫磺島戰役70週年紀念活動。

日本首度派出兩名內閣大臣參加年度紀念活動，分別為厚生勞動大臣鹽崎恭久與防衛大臣中谷元。

共同社報導，中谷元在紀念活動場邊與美國海軍部長馬布斯（Ray Mabus）舉行會談。

歷時36天的硫磺島戰役，造成近7000名美國陸戰隊員和2萬2000名日本守軍陣亡，日本守軍僅1083人倖存。

硫磺島戰役最令人印象深刻的一景，莫過於美聯社記者羅森塔爾（Joe Rosenthal）1945年拍下6名美軍在硫磺島摺?山豎起美國國旗的照片。

然而長久以來對許多日本人來說，這起敗仗一直是他們不願記起的時代悲劇。

日本現在有更多民眾知道硫磺島戰役，部分原因是美國導演克林伊斯威特（Clint Eastwood）2006年電影「來自硫磺島的信」（Letters from Iwo Jima），電影靈感來自栗林忠道戰事前夕的家書。
